| For reasons that have been lost in the mists of time, I'm compiling a list of famous people who would be useful to have around the house when you're doing DIY.
So far... - Peter O'Toole (a good all-rounder) - Karen Carpenter - MC Hammer - Jimmy Nail

| I've had 'Word Up' by Cameo in my head all day and it's nearly driven me mad. I have no idea how it actually managed to lodge itself so firmly in my brain, but there you are.
Well, it's been a year since I was hospitalised and got a proper diagnosis. When I was first diagnosed with OCD, I didn't take it too seriously because I thought it was just about cleaning. I have recently joined an OCD support group however, and I can't believe how similar I am to all these people! It's very liberating. It's the OCD Christmas party tonight, which I might go to, weather permitting.
To think, this time last year I was in the worst place I've ever been, whereas now my life is just constantly on the up. I'm the happiest I've been for a long long time :) | comments: 3 comments or Leave a comment |
| Aaargh, I hate the holidays! I'm so bored! luckily, I go back to work in a week. I love the holidays at first, but six weeks of nothing can drag after a while. Anyway, what have I done?
1. I went to Taize, which was absolutely amazing. Very beautiful services, very lovely people, will deffo go again. Felt very spiritually cleansed when I came back. Bought some absolutely gorgeous music and hand-crafted pottery. Lovely holiday.
2. Playing. Lots. With Bettina. Have also worked my way through 4 boys this holiday. Feel a bit bad, but go me!
3. That's about it. I'm really quite boring. | comments: 2 comments or Leave a comment |
| Well, I've done it. I've graduated. It only took six years! I was so excited that when I got to shake the Pro Vice Chancellor's hand, I gave him a big kiss. I was wearing some bright red lipstick and so the rest of the ceremone was spent looking at his cheeks: one normal, one bright red. The other academics loved it and all crowded around me afterwards. We then went to the Classics reception, drank champagne in the Terrace and bought many books in the union bookshop. I bought the Ecclesiastical History of the English People by Bede, which is fascinating reading (it's even torn me away from my Richard F Burton translation of The Thousand and One Nights which I've been romping through. Filth!). Geoffrey of Monmouth is lined up next.
I went with my parents to Rye yesterday, which is a gorgeous medieval town. Found many wonderful secondhand shops, walked along cobbled streets, fell in love with the church, but sadly got to the model village just as it was closing. Curses. I've always wanted to go to a model village, but they appear to be mainly Very Far Away. Something else I've always wanted to do is go to the Lewes Bonfire Night, so I've looked it up online and they don't want non-residents to go! How crap is that! I'll have to buy a house in Lewes. I am not happy about this. | comments: 4 comments or Leave a comment |
